FAQ

What is the difference between a coach and a counselor?

Professional counselors and coaches bear resemblance, but they also have clear distinctions. Both can offer solutions to get you closer to the life you want to be living.  However, there is a broad scope of needs to consider. Counselors are trained and licensed in diagnosing and treating mental health concerns. Coaches do not diagnose nor treat mental health illness.

Counselors typically work with people who need help to resolve old pain, heal from trauma or identify dysfunction. Coaches form an alliance with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize personal and professional potential. It is designed to establish goals and carry out a strategy/plan for achieving those goals. Coaching is all about looking ahead while counseling often deals with events from the past.
